FABRIC Group

In Fabric Group, we learn how to work on projects with fabric. We’ve done numerous projects and there are a few displayed on the walls of the Center. We always have a blast! It’s very relaxing, soothing, fun and therapeutic. It calms me and helps me be in a good mood. It’s my favorite class at the center. We have worked with ribbons and paint, and made quilts. We have learned how to tie dye, and a variety of different ways to use fabric as art.                      - Gilbert

In Art, everyone has a one on one individual art time. We learn how to use the computer and programs to make cards, banners and graphic art, paint and draw, among all the things available  in the art room. Another favorite thing to do is create bead designs. It is a place and time to express ourselves through art, it helps to relax, and be creative.  Artwork is also put up on display at CAL.

PAINTING & DRAWING Group

We also have a 2 dimensional  art group where we work in a variety of media, from pencil drawing, to charcoal, to pastels and acrylic painting. It helps  processing visual cues, so  in this group the accent is on observation of shape, size and color, as well as light and dark. We draw what we really can see instead of what we think is there. We are expressing this in vastly differing ways.
