THE CENTER FOR ADAPTIVE LEARNING IS A SUPPORTED LIVING PROGRAM FOR ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROLOGICAL DISABILITIES. CLIENTS WORK TOWARDS SELF-RELIANT LIVING, AND LEARN TO ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES.
We define self-reliance as: 1. The ability to engage in meaningful productive work 2. To socialize successfully 3. To attend to one’s own physical and emotional health 4. To experience ongoing personal growth
The Center for Adaptive Learning (CAL) is committed to creating and maintaining a living and working environment for neurologically impaired individuals, which will promote dignity and support a sense of community. The CAL program provides each participant with an individual program for growth. CAL is committed to maintaining the highest quality of living possible, which will allow each client to develop a sense of pride, to augment self-esteem and to foster a sense of self-worth. Far too often, individuals with learning disabilities are so focused on their limitations and challenges that they do not thoroughly explore their positive attributes. At the Center for Adaptive Learning we emphasize the positive and help adults build on their assets. CAL empowers adults with learning disabilities to realize their full potential for independent, self-reliant living. |
